We haven’t had a new album from pop star Katy Perry since she released ‘PRISM’ back in 2013. However, the pop princess is back as she kick-starts her new era. Today, the singer released her new single ‘Chained To The Rhythm’ – a synthpop piece of perfection. The song features Jamaican artist Skip Marley and is something a little different from the star.
I love the direction Katy has taken sonically, however, despite being written alongside Max Martin, Sia Furler and Ali Payami, the song is a bit bizarre lyrically. Although it threw me off at the beginning of the song, I was really enjoying it by the end proving just how calculated and exceptional Katy Perry is as an artist. ‘Chained To The Rhythm’ serves as the lead single off Katy Perry’s upcoming record which is due later this year and I have a feeling it could be her best yet.
