After an exciting 11th season of Idols South Africa, Mzansi has finally crowned their winner! After a staggering 16 million votes, Karabo Mogane beat out Mmatema Moremi to take the coveted title of this year’s South African Idol! Karabo stole the hearts of many around the country with his smooth, soulful vocal and, for the first time ever, the singer will release his debut album in two weeks – just in time for Christmas! This season has been the biggest one to date, proving that Idols South Africa is still as popular as ever. An astonishing grand total of 78.8 million votes were made this season, surpassing last season’s previous record of 24.3 million.
So, what does Karabo walk away with? Well, not only does Karabo get a record deal with Universal Music, but he also takes home R700 000 cash, a SmartBroadband Wireless 50GB 55 Inch Smart TV, a Huawei B593 4G LTE router with a 24-month Repeater Deal 6 and 50GB + 50GB Night Surfer (100GB), as well as a PlayStation 4, worth a total of R41 000 from Telkom SA, a R225 900 Ford Fiesta 1.0 Ecoboost Titanium from Ford South Africa, R100 000 worth of clothes from Truworths, Microphone equipment from Shure to the value of R135 000 and R70 000 worth of musical equipment from Yamaha. M-Net will also be flying Karabo out to attend the finalé of American Idol and he will open for Mi Casa on the final concert of their “Dare To Love” tour at Carnival City on the 11th of December. What a prize!
.”Thank you to everyone who voted for me,” Karabo said shortly after winning the 11th season. “I can’t be who I am without you.” This season was one of the most exciting seasons to date. Not only was the competition fierce, but Somizi added much flair to the judging line-up. We’re pretty sure that this means the 12th season of the hit show is coming our way soon. Well done, Karabo!
