He’s one incredibly talented musician who has been playing in and around South Africa’s buzzing music scene and now, Josh Kempen has found a home with Warner Music South Africa. The singer has been making waves for a while now. He has performed at some of South Africa’s largest music festivals; Oppikoppi, Lush Festival & Splashy Fen, as well as the countries most loved venues with the likes of Shortstraw, Desmond & the Tutus, and Matthew Mole.
Josh dropped his debut EP last year titled ‘The Midnight Ship’ which recieved rave reviews from critics around the country. Now, Josh is ready to drop his first full-length album and his new single, ‘The River’ drops tomorrow! Josh was recently picked by Deezer ZA as an “Artist to Watch in 2016″ alongside international breakthrough artists like Leon Bridges & Jack Garrat. Oh, did I mention he was nominated for ‘Songwriter of the Year’ by SAMRO
“Warner Music South Africa is proud to announce the signing of this truly talented singer-songwriter. We pride ourselves on working with artists that resonate with today’s audiences, whilst being timeless themselves. Josh is the perfect fit and we look forward to working with him,” says Tracy Fraser, MD of Warner Music South Africa.
Josh, naturally, is excited about joining the Warner Music team who’s local offering includes artists such as ASH, Locnville and Dr. Bone. “Warner has a wonderful name, and it’s home to some of the most important music makers around,” Josh says. “They bring a lot of value to what I do, but I was definitely first drawn to them because of the team I met. Beyond the brand is a group of approachable people who are clearly experts in their field and are passionate about their work and the artists they sign. It gives their work a lot of power. For me, that makes them a company of people you want to be a part of – it’s really so inspiring for a team like that to want to get behind me.”
