This kid keeps on surprising me. After winning SA’s Got Talent last year, Johnny Apple spent quite a bit of time on his new material. He released his debut single ‘Monday Night’ earlier this year to moderate success and has just released follow-up single ‘Warrior’ before releasing his new album later this month. One thing I like about the dude is that he pushes boundaries and isn’t afraid to try new things.
One thing that is really lacking in our music industry is celebration artists have for their colleagues. When covering a song, few cover local tracks – especially in studio but that’s exactly what Johnny did with Beatenberg’s hit single ‘Rafael’ off their debut album ‘The Hanging Gardens of Beatenberg‘. Johnny changed the track up completely which shows such artistry.
