It was a story that swept the nation. American icon John Legend shared a video on TikTok giving fans the opportunity to collaborate with him on his latest single ‘Nervous’ through a #OpenVerseChallenge and when Mthandazo Gatya took the challenge on, the video went viral. So much so that it caught the attention of the Grammy winner.
John, who happened to be in Mzansi a few days later performing at a private event, took the opportunity to invite Gatya to perform with him live on stage.
Now, a few days later, John is still in awe of Gatya’s local spin on the track. The singer took to his Instagram account and shared a “How it started and How’s it going video”, showing the journey this moment had, especially on Gatya.
“The power of the internet! And participating in my open verse challenge for #Nervous,” John captioned the post.
