Joe Foster Impresses With ‘Look Away’ – His Debut English Single

Joe Foster is easily one of the most talented musicians in the country. He has taken the Afrikaans pop space by storm from his early days in the boyband ADAM to his impressive debut solo album ‘Hartklank’ – an album that won the Male Pop Album category at the 2016 Ghoema awards. Now, as he tries to push himself well out of his comfort zone, Joe is working on English material for the first time in his career. His new album ‘Just Be There’ is expected to drop around the middle of the year but we’ve officially got a first taste of the project as the star releases his new single ‘Look Away’.

The song is something different for the star. The edgy dance production is a step away from the pop sound he dabbled in throughout his career so far and it’s a welcomed change. The star wrote the song alongside Fred den Hartog from Die Heuwels Fantasties and the songwriting is impressive. The song is about accepting that sometimes it’s important to allow yourself to break down and show moments of weakness. “The main message is the pressure we feel towards ourselves and the people around us, to be strong and never fail. Pretending so long that we get ourselves into trouble and then really start to break down. That is when we need the world to look away,” Joe explains.

Joe completely changes the game with this single and it’s great to see him try something new. Although he promises that he hasn’t left Afrikaans music for good, he’s excited about the new English adventure he’s embarked on. And with a song as strong as this one, we’re even more excited to see what he has up his sleeve with this record.
