The 2022 MTV Movie & TV Awards took place last night. The ceremony celebrates the very best in film and television and celebrated the Latino icon by presenting her with the Generation Award for her outstanding achievement in film.
As she accepted her award, the star made an emotional speech about how believers and sceptics contributed to her success. “I want to thank the people who gave me joy and the ones who broke my heart — the ones who were true and the ones who lied to me,” she said.
The star got emotional as she thanked fans, her longtime manager and her children for “teaching me to love”.
“I want to thank the people who gave me this life,” said Lopez, 52, later adding, “You’re only as good as the people who you work with. But if you’re lucky, they make you better. I’ve been very lucky in that regard.”
The star also thanked her “true love” before telling her fiancé Ben Affleck “and everybody at home” that she was on her way back for dinner.
The star’s acting career started back in 1990 when she was cast in the popular sketch series ‘In Living Color’ before landing a leading role in “Selena” in 1997. She would go on to appear in such films including “Anaconda,” “Out of Sight,” “The Wedding Planner,” “Hustlers” and her latest, “Marry Me” – for which her single ‘On My Way’ won Best Song at this year’s award show.
