Looking for a perfect dance track to add to your playlist this week? Today, I’m obsessed with the brand new single from Jax Jones. After the success he achieved with his recent hit ‘House Work’, the English producer has teamed up with RAYE (who lends her vocals to Jonas Blue’s smash hit ‘By Your Side’) on the incredibly catchy new single ‘You Don’t Know Me’.
The track is another piece of fantastic dance music from the producer who is quickly making a name for himself on the international dance front. Jax sampled the popular M.A.N.D.Y. and Booka Shade track ‘Body Language’ which adds an interesting element to the song. While the production is fantastic, it’s RAYE’s strong vocals that really give the song dimension. Not only does she add a catchy element to the song but her vocal strength makes the song stand out. Although simple in lyrical content, the song has all the necessary elements to become a smash hit.
“This track is so simple but it’s just one of those that works better for not throwing the kitchen sink at it. The vocal was inspired by a lot of bashment and general bravado as we were having a lot of fun and feeling good that day in the studio,” Jax says on the track. “I spent the next day writing and experimenting with different basslines, which were good but not quite doing it. I’ve always been obsessed with the Booka Shade and M.A.N.D.Y. “Body Language” track – it’s been a staple in my DJ sets – so I tried it and it was lit. Fitted perfectly. We approached them and I was honoured when they gave me approval to use their notes. Bringing their classic techno sound to our new house setting is a total joy for me as I always want to show the audience today who the teachers of the music who inspired me. I want to bring the underground roots to the forefront of the music I’m making. It’s a thread that runs through all my music.” I’m obsessed with this song and I have a feeling it will be on repeat all week.
