You might not recognize the name just yet but you definitely recognize the voice. She recently appeared on Felix Jaehn’s smash hit single ‘Ain’t Nobody (Loves Me Better), Robin Schulz’s ‘Sun Goes Down’ and released her debut single ‘Adore’. However, Jasmine Thompson has just dropped a cover of Tracy Chapman’s ‘Fast Car’ that will blow your mind. Oh, and did we mention that the girl is only 15 years old?
The piano-driven cover gives you goosies from the very first note that Jasmine sings. The original song is melodic, emotional and real and Jasmine does a stellar job keeping those elements of the song on her cover. Tracy’s voice is deeper while Jasmine stays true to herself and her sound on her version and gives the song a dimension we have never heard before. Her talent is undeniable and it took this cover for us to really understand that.
Jasmine stripped the song down completely and is completely exposed vocally. Many artists in today’s age wouldn’t dare put out a song like this and it’s exactly why we can’t get enough of this song. Naturally, local radio stations have jumped on board and are spinning this song daily and we don’t know about you, but we could listen to this all day!
