She’s been making music as part of The Sextons over the past few years and now, Jamie-Lee Sexton is ready to embark on her new solo journey. The star has rebranded herself as a solo artist and kicks off her new journey with her new single ‘Magic’ – the title track off her brand new EP.
The song is a flowery, summery single which is nestled on Jamie’s beautifully strong vocals and a slick production. The song is reminiscent of the magic that Jamie-Lee believed in as a child when The NeverEnding story was real, Labyrinth was scary and Willow was her friend. Produced by Crighton Goodwill, the song has a Maskandi-sounding guitar riff which shows off her proudly South African roots while the message behind the song is something we can all relate to. Jamie has been an underrated vocalist for a long time and reminds us why the country should sit up and listen to her music and the stories she tells through the medium.
“Humans are fascinating and I have always been intrigued by the magic that sits in between the unseen moments,” Jamie explains about the inspiration behind the new single. “All my songs are inspired by true events and real life experiences, this connection is so important to me as this is the key that unlocks my creation.” The star adds that she is ready for the country to hear her new material. “I am really excited for everyone to hear ‘Magic’,” she tells us. “It’s full of light, inspiration, great energy and, to put it simply, it’s a feel good song! I guess we all need a touch of Magic in our lives….” The song is now available on all major digital platforms now.
