American singer Halsey shot to fame thanks to her smash hits ‘Colors’, ‘New Americana’ and her massive collaboration with The Chainsmokers, ‘Closer’. Now, after months of being in the studio, the singer is preparing the release of her second studio album ‘hopeless fountain kingdom’ in June and has released ‘Now Or Never’ as the lead single off the project.
While ultimately a pop track, the song is a moody, bass-heavy single from the songstress and is a place where she thrives. Teaming up with super-producer Benny Blanco Cashmere Cat and Happy Perez, the song has a massive ethereal vibe to it and it’s definitely a sound mainstream radio is gravitating towards. Vocally, the singer delivers an emotional performance. Her voice is unique and stands out in the current pop climate and it’s her ability to stay true to herself which will help her thrive in the industry.
Halsey dropped a beautiful yet graphic video for the song which has already received rave reviews from fans around the world. “The video for ‘Now Or Never’ (my directorial debut!) is one part in the center of a long narrative that tells the story of two people in love despite the forces trying to keep them apart. On its own the song is about two impatient young lovers, but in the context of the hopeless fountain kingdom universe, the stakes are much higher for these two star-crossed lovers,” she says of the video.
Naturally, the singer is excited about her new material. Besides her collaboration with The Chainsmokers and ‘Not Afraid Anymore’ – her contribution to the Fifty Shades Darker soundtrack, this is the first new single the singer has released since she wrapped up promotion on her debut album ‘Badlands’. We’re really enjoying the single and if it’s any indication of what we can expect on ‘hopeless fountain kingdom’, we’re in for a treat.
