Coldplay dropped their fantastic latest album A Head Full of Dreams late last year and have already released the smash hits Adventure of a Lifetime and Hymn For The Weekend as singles off the record. Now, the band have chosen Up & Up as the third single from the album and they’ve just premiered an epic video for the track.
The track is the final track off the record and is incredibly anthemic. Chris’ vocals are, yet again, the star of the song which are really put on display thanks to minimalistic production during the first verse. The song features a host of guest appearances, including vocals from Beyoncé and legendary Gimme Shelter singer Merry Clayton, as well as a guitar solo from Noel Gallagher. However, I don’t feel the song has the strength the two previous singles did and, because of this, I don’t see this track doing as well commercially. I would have liked to see Everglow or Birds as the third single.
However, Coldplay fans will fall in love with this track as the song has the band’s essence is all over it. The song is paired with a quirky video that will definitely bring a smile to your face. A Head Full Of Dreams reached Number One on iTunes in more than 90 countries, sold more than 3.5 million copies and cemented Coldplay’s position as Spotify’s most-streamed band in the world.
