ITV Choice Launches In Mzansi

As it turns 60 in 2015, one of the UK’s biggest networks, ITV Choice, has officially landed in South Africa! The channel has some of the greatest shows to have come out of Britain and I’m so excited about this new addition to DStv (right next to E! I might add, so I’m very happy).

The channel includes shows such as Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, Keep It In The Family, The Chase, Big Star’s Little Star, Poldark, Vera, Lewis and many more to keep viewers hooked. Last night, the channel hosted an exclusive event to launch the channel – and I was there!

I spent the day with ITV Choice yesterday. First, we were driven around Jozi in these uber cool old school British cabs to Shepstone Gardens. There we had a chance to have a fun-filled day filled with English treats. One thing that the Brits adore, is gin. Molecular Bars were on site to give us a brief history on the spirit. We got to taste a few varieties of gin as well as different English ales and beers.

We then got to make our own infused gin. This was the freaking highlight of my day. It was interesting to see the different varieties people put into their bottle of gin. Lunch was then serves and we had traditional English meals such as pies, fish and chips, bangers and mash and we enjoyed a high tea. How royal of us! Before the day part of the launch ended we played our very own murder mystery game. It was great to see everyone dressing up and having fun.

We then moved out to the channel’s official launch and it was beautiful! The launch saw us walking in on a huge union jack type carpet and the venue was filled with artists drawing caricatures, red telephone booths, a fish and chips stand, a place to take green screen pics where we were photoshopped to look like as if we were outside popular landmarks. Oh, and Beatenberg were there to perform for us!

ITV Choice promised that we would be getting content very close to their UK premiere date and various soaps would be screened in South Africa within 24 hours of their broadcast in the UK. How awesome is that!

I can’t wait to explore the channel in the next few weeks. Shout out to DStv for bringing us the freshest new content all day, every day!

ITV Choice is now available on DStv Channel 123.
