Last year, local pop star Helen Desbois released her highly-anticipated comeback single ‘Like I Need You’. The single showcased the Mix FM presenter’s talent and reminded the country that she’s no one-trick-pony. Now, she’s ready to do it all over again as she releases her brand new single ‘Wind Up Girl’.
While ‘Like I Need You’ was more of a romantic ballad, ‘Wind Up Girl’ shows off Helen’s spicy attitude. This time around, Helen sings about a about a woman in love, but one who wants to stay in firmly in control of her feelings. Helen knows what she wants – and she’s going to make sure she gets it!
Although she does a fantastic job waking us up on Mix FM every weekday, Helen admits that she just couldn’t shy away from the music scene. “Music has always been my first love” Helen admits. “I’m really into the work of Selena Gomez and Ellie Goulding at the moment and the production on ‘WindUp Girl’ has been influenced them.” However, the star adds that her idol Madonna is a constant influence in all of her music. “Madonna is an obvious inspiration for me thanks her spirit of reinvention and her ability to produce great songs. The attitude of never being afraid to try something new is what I live my life by and I hope my fans will love what we’ve done with my new single”.
