Heinz Winckler has been making quality pop music in both English and Afrikaans since he won the very first season of Idols South Africa back in 2002. He has sold an incredible amount of albums around the country and has headlined many tours and festivals. However, 2016 sees the star explore a project that means a whole lot to him. His debut Christian contemporary worship is on the way – and the first single is here!
Heinz split with his label Select Musiek back in 2014 and this move granted him the freedom to explore his love for Christian music. In fact, Heinz calls himself a “born again, Holy Spirit filled follower of The Way of Jesus Christ, called to play a significant role in the entertainment industry for the Kingdom of God and for the glory of God.” So, with the help of some crowd-funding from some of his fans, Heinz has been in studio recording the project and he has finally released ‘The Roar’, the first single off the upcoming project of the same name.
Christian music is incredibly popular in South Africa and around the world so it’s great to see popular artists such as Heinz releasing full albums celebrating their faith – especially since Christianity is something he is incredibly passionate about.
