Just over a month ago, Big Concerts held their very first Calabash South Africa music festival. The one-day event brought international headliners Maroon 5, Keane, Medvza and Ava Max to Mzansi for an epic day of music. While the line-up was a little confusing, sonically, the day was super fun and well organized so it’s not surprising that a 2025 version has already been confirmed.
This time, however, the promoter is streamlining the festival as it announces punk rock legends Green Day and The Offspring will headline next year’s edition. Adding some local flavour into the mix with this iconic first phase announcement, Fokofpolosiekar will also be performing live at the festival.
In 2025, Green Day celebrated their brand-new album ‘Savior’ as well as the 30th anniversary of their debut album ‘Dookie’. Set to perform in South Africa for the first time, the group will be playing some new music and hits like ‘Basket Case’ and ‘American Idiot’.
Meanwhile, The Offspring, famous for hits like ‘Pretty Fly (for a White Guy)’ and ‘Self Esteem’ will perform in South Africa for the first time since 2004 – and are bound to bring another high-energy performance to South Africans.
Calabash South Africa will take place in Johannesburg on 19 January 2025 at FNB Stadium and in Cape Town on 23 January 2025 at the DHL Stadium. The Discovery Bank pre-sale begins at 09h00 on 13 March from and will run until 08h59 on 15 March. Tickets go on sale to the general public at 09h00 on 15 March from www.calabashsouthafrica.co.za or Ticketmaster.co.za.
