The past few months have seen some impressive new music from local electronic act GOODLUCK. Late last year they teamed up with Dutch DJ De Hofnar on their hit single ‘Back In The Day’ and put their own spin on Londonbeat’s hit single ‘I’ve Been Thinking About You’ which has dominated radio charts all around the country. Now, as they prepare for the release of their third studio album in October, they’ve dropped their next single off the project titled ‘Find Me In The Forest’.
The new single sees GOODLUCK expand on the tropical house sound that has taken the electronic world by storm. The track reminds me of something that would play at the Rio carnival and is a new direction for the group. I love how versatile the group is. They take risks and experiment with every new single they release while still staying true to the identity they have created. The production on the song is strong and bold and demands your attention. The song is paired with simple lyrics and although I feel the vocals are sometimes clouded by the production, it’s definitely a banger of a track.
“We’ve pushed ourselves outside of our comfort zone with this latest song and I guess you could say that ‘Find Me In The Forest’ is one of the edgiest tracks we have ever released as a band,” lead singer Juliet Harding tells me. “We are super proud of Ben [Peters]’ cutting-edge production and it seems to have a slightly nostalgic almost South American feel to the song. It was co-mixed by a very talented Dutch artist called Jaz Von D who we have struck up an amazing relationship with over the past few months.” Juliet adds that lyrically, the track “was inspired by all our travels abroad and getting a sense that you are floating from city to city feeling very disconnected from home. I think we came to realise that ‘home’ will always be wherever we are feeling happy.” The track is available on all digital platforms now.
