The Goliath Comedy Club Is Coming To Braamfontein

The Goliath & Goliath brand keeps getting bigger and bigger. Jason Goliath, Donovan Goliath, Nicholas Goliath and Kate Goliath have spent the past few years building up a comedic empire. Back in 2015, they opened up The Goliath Comedy Club in Melrose Arch which quickly became a hub for comedy in South Africa. Earlier this month the brand started testing a new venue in Times Square in Menlyn for a potential Pretoria brand and now, the brand is exciting to announce that they’ll be opening up a club in Braamfontein later this month as well.

The club will take up permanent residency in the newly renovated space located on the lower level of the Bannister Hotel from the 28th of October 2017. The venue will seat up to 80 guests cinema style, giving The Goliath Comedy Club – Braamfontein a “New York” underground comedy room look and feel. The first show will feature Nicholas Goliath, Joey Rasdien , Mojak Lehoko and Eric Jansen at a 3pm timeslot before the brand’s popular 20-in-5 feature (20 comedians performing 5 min each) headlines at 8pm.

The Braamfontein branch of The Goliath Comedy Club will trade weekdays from Tuesday – Friday and on a Saturday. Tuesday nights will be positioned as “open mic nights”. Here audiences can experience new and seasoned comedians jumping on stage trying out new material. Wednesday’s – Saturday’s will follow the normal comedy format with line-ups comprising of local and national comedians. However, the brand also has some exciting plans as they plan to host special one-man shows every two months.

This branch will also be more affordable than their Melrose Arch and Times Square clubs. Tickets will cost just R80 and can be purchased online www.goliathcomedyclub.com or at the door.

“As winners of the SA Comic Choice Awards – Best Friends of Comedy Award for three consecutive times, we are very proud of the fact that Goliath & Goliath is a brand recognised for putting comedy first,” Jason Goliath says. “We will continue to deliver on this promise by creating platforms like The Box – Maboneng, The Goliath Comedy Club – Melrose Arch and The Goliath Comedy Club – Braamfontein. These spaces allow comedians to play on formal stages in different environments conducive for comedy and comedy to be more accessible to the industry’s growing audience.”

If you think Goliath & Goliath are stopping there, think again! The group plans to open more spaces around the country over the next two years targeting high traffic metropolitan areas.

The South African comedy space has never been at a more exciting space and it’s because of Goliath & Goliath that comedy is now more accessible to the masses. Braamfontein, we hope you’re ready for an endless supply of laughs!
