French Montana is heading back to South Africa. The Grammy-nominated rapper has announced two exclusive headline performances for December 2026, bringing his hit-filled catalogue to Cape Town and Johannesburg as the inaugural headliner for the new AFROTRAX live music series.
The ‘Unforgettable’ hitmaker will first take to the stage at The Ostrich in Cape Town on Friday, Dec. 4, before travelling to The Canvas in Johannesburg for a second show on Saturday, Dec. 5. Both events promise full-scale festival experiences celebrating the intersection of music, fashion, food and African culture.
French Montana has spent more than a decade cementing himself as one of hip-hop’s biggest global stars, delivering chart-topping singles including ‘Unforgettable,’ ‘No Stylist,’ ‘Pop That’ and ‘Ain’t Worried About Nothin’. Along the way, he’s collaborated with some of music’s biggest names, including Drake, The Weeknd, Post Malone, Cardi B, Swae Lee and Chris Brown, helping him amass billions of streams worldwide.
His return comes at a time when South Africa continues to attract an increasing number of major international touring artists, further cementing the country’s reputation as one of Africa’s leading live entertainment destinations.
The concerts also mark the launch of AFROTRAX, a new event brand aiming to blend international headline acts with African creativity and culture. “AFROTRAX represents a new chapter in African live entertainment,” the organisers said in a statement. “Our vision is to build a platform that celebrates African culture while connecting audiences with some of the most influential artists in the world. Launching the brand with French Montana is a significant milestone for us and the beginning of something much bigger.”
While French Montana tops the bill, organisers say the events will offer far more than a concert. Fans can expect a festival-style experience complete with performances from leading South African artists and DJs, lifestyle activations, food experiences and premium hospitality areas. The remaining line-up, along with VIP experiences, will be announced in the coming weeks.
Cape Town’s show will take place at The Ostrich, offering an outdoor summer setting, while Johannesburg’s edition will transform The Canvas into a large-scale urban music festival.
French Montana last performed in South Africa several years ago, making these December dates one of the biggest hip-hop announcements of the local summer concert calendar.
