Earlier today, Ford South Africa launched their epic new B-Max and although it fits a rather small niche, the car is innovative, safe and has more space than ever before! The event, held at The Venue in Melrose Arch this morning, saw the company unveil the car’s specs, price etc before giving attendees the chance to drive the car and get a feel for it.
The brand new B-Max features a unique design, superb fuel economy and unrivalled small car technology which makes it one of the most advanced cars in its class. The car is perfect for mothers and people with disabilities who often carry crutches or wheelchairs with them. The car is equipped with an incredible 7 airbags, ensuring ultimate safety for the driver. Also, about 58% of the car is made up of high strength and ultra-high-strength steel so in the event of a crash, protecting all those in the car. The car also has special door frames which will absorb energy in side impacts.
“The new Ford B-MAX really challenges traditional small car thinking, and pioneers a concept not attempted by any other manufacturer,” says Tracey Delate, General Marketing Manager, Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa. “Its ingenious design opens the doors – quite literally – to exciting new ideas about what’s possible with a compact vehicle.”
Aesthetically, the car has an unobstructed entry and exit with hinged front and sliding rear doors, making it easy to get large items in and out of the car and makes it super easy to get in or out the car when parked in tight spaces. There is also a steel cage running through all four doors.
The car is also incredibly fuel-efficient with the “entry-level B-MAX Ambiente produces 74kW while the mid-range Trend and range-topping Titanium derivatives boast a 92kW output. Both versions feature a peak torque of 170Nm. Combined cycle fuel consumption is rated as low as 4.9 l/100km* matched to a CO2 emissions figure of 114 g/km for the 92kW models.”

Warranty and Service Plan
The B-MAX is sold with a 4-year/120 000km Comprehensive Warranty, 4-year/60 000km Service Plan, 3-year/unlimited km Roadside Assistance and 5-year/unlimited km Corrosion Warranty. Service intervals are every 20 000km.
