They catapulted into fame after placing third in The X Factor USA and since then, Fifth Harmony has become one of the world’s biggest girl groups. After the success of their latest single ‘Work From Home’, the group dropped their second studio album ‘7/27’ and have chosen the Fetty Wap-assisted ‘All In My Head (Flex)’ as the second single off the project – and it’s already taking off!
The song is a blend of R&B, pop, electronic and reggae and is something different from the group. That being said, it’s still something that fans would expect from the group. Coming from a reality TV background, it’s clear that the vocals would be on point and the girls didn’t disappoint. There are moments on the track where the girls show off what they’re made of vocally and it definitely gives the listener a newfound respect for the girls. However, in all honesty, I wasn’t thrilled about Fetty Wap’s rap here. It felt a bit out of place and unnecessary.
On the track, Fifth Harmony member Dinah Jane Hansen said “The vibe and rhythm to this I feel represents me best as a South Pacific Islander […] This is just one of those feel-good songs that you can’t help but jam to, no matter where you’re at or who you’re with!” The song is the perfect follow-up to ‘Work From Home’. Not only does the song see the girls slow things down a bit but it also sets the tone for the new album. Do Fifth Harmony have another hit on their hands? We think so!
