Local electronic act, Evida, made up of Liam and Richard Jones, are known for their eclectic approach to dance music. The duo found success with their singles ‘You Gotta’ and ‘1,2,3’ with Carla as well as their remix of Tresor’s massive single ‘The Woods’. Now, they’re taking their skills international. The duo have put their own spin on Slushii and Sofia Reyes’ ‘Never Let You Go’ as part of a remix competition.
Should the duo come out tops, they win a 1-on-1 Skype session with Slushii, some studio equipment, a release supported by Slushii and Big Beat Records and more.
On the remix, Evida’s Liam Jones tells us that “The sound we chose to make was kind of a hard latin dance vibe with some afro influences. It happens to be the sound we are leaning towards generally in our own music taking inspiration from Africa because we definitely have the best rhythms”. Liam adds that they decided to enter the remix competition because they felt inspired to add an African flavour to the song and didn’t think too much of the competition element when creating the remix. “We pretty much just entered the competition for fun. the platform it was on basically does a whole bunch of different remix comps at once so we picked one we liked and went for it ”
