Everything You Need To Know About Face Yoga

Did you know that there are 57 muscles in your face and neck? Imagine your face with fewer lines, non-droopy eyelids and of course, a younger-looking neck without having plastic surgery. This might sound like it is too good to be true.
Experts say that you can achieve this by adding face yoga techniques into facials and your skincare routine at home. No need to go under the knife! You can achieve younger-looking skin in a holistic way…

What is Face Yoga?

Face yoga has been around for a while now but has started to make more of an appearance in our country in the past few months.
Just like exercising the rest of your body can help tone and slim your appearance, face yoga can do the same for your skin on your face and neck area.

Experts believe that by repeating specific movements, you can boost circulation and lift as well as tighten your skin over time.

Face yoga will increase circulation in your skin, enhance lymphatic flow and allow fresh oxygen to reach the cells in your skin. Overall, this is a great technique to be adding to your skin routine to keep your skin looking healthy and gives you a youthful glow.

How is it incorporated?

It is a series of techniques that is added to your normal facial. First, you start with a warm-up. Then you do a few facial exercises that are going to help wake up some of your sleeping muscles. You then have an anti-ageing facial which is then followed by a relaxing face-lift massage and ends off with acupressure.

You will then be given exercises to do a home which will be added to your normal homecare advice after a facial at your local spa or salon.

Is face yoga effective?

Yes, it is effective however, you need to be committed to your new skin regimen. Part of ageing skin is caused by muscle loss. If you can commit to a routine, you can help to strengthen the muscles in your face thus causing your skin to look tighter and younger.

A study was done whereby people did the facial yoga exercise for 30 minutes a day, every day for 2 months. After that, they did the exercises every other day for another 3 months. They reported an increased fullness in their cheeks which made them look nearly 3 years younger.

“It’s a really great natural solution to regain your youthful appearance, and a great alternative to Botox and plastic surgery,” says Koko Hayashi, a facial yoga instructor at Skin Fit Gym in Los Angeles.

Within 6 to 9 months, most people have reported that others have noticed the change in their skin. They have said that their skin looks younger and more energised. You will start to feel more relaxed within your skin.

Face yoga is worth a try! Your skin is the largest organ in your body and there is never a bad reason to exercise your muscles to help your body stay fit and healthy.
