She’s the voice behind hits such as ‘Hotter Than Hell’, ‘Blow Your Mind (Mwah!) and ‘Lost In Your Light’ and after months of anticipation, British pop star Dua Lipa has finally dropped her debut self-titled album.
The star has jam-packed 17 tracks onto her debut offering and has delivered easily one of the best pop records of the year. After months of delays, the star made sure each track was perfect – and the work paid off. “I’m so proud of where it is now,” she admits. “I felt like something was missing, and I wanted to write a bit more. I added 10 new songs to the album, so that people could hear another side to me.”
The album is quite diverse sonically and Dua Lipa reveals she wanted to explore each genre that has had an impact on her life. The star also opens up about the sometimes somber feel the album has. “All the sad things that happen are the things that linger on my mind the longest, the things that I feel like I want to write about,” she said. “But then at the same time I like dancing to it. So it’s finding that mixture between lyrically it being very personal and inspired by events, and then being able to also listen to it and dance along and not think about what the lyrics can mean.”
