You may not have heard of DNCE, but the voice behind the band belongs to former Jonas Brothers member Joe Jonas. Joe and the rest of the band have come together to bring a fresh, fun new sound and the new band are bursting onto the scene with their debut single ‘Cake By The Ocean’.
But how did the song come about? “We were at the studio, and I overheard the producers saying that they wanted to get cake by the ocean,” recalls the band’s frontman Joe Jonas. Once he realized that his Swedish collaborators Mattman & Robin meant the cocktail Sex on the Beach, Joe let his creative juices flow.
The song is an instant earworm. The base line is the star of the track and DNCE blend elements of pop, disco and even soul on the song. Joe’s vocals are incredibly high on the song and he stretches his voice with ease. We love the sound Joe has moved to after his R&B record ‘Fast Lane’ failed to make an impact on the charts. We missed Joe and we’re so happy to have him back on the music scene!
