Pop princess Demi Lovato dropped her brand new single ‘Sorry Not Sorry’ today and is finally ready to embark on a new musical era. The song serves as the lead single off her upcoming studio album and is another unapologetic, empowering anthem from the star. The song is set to be another hit for the star who has released new music with Cheat Codes and Jax Jones this year.
“[This] is the first of many songs that I’ve been working on, and I can’t wait for you guys to hear all of them,” the pop star wrote in a lengthy letter to her fans. “I hope this song makes you get off your seat and dance like you never have before. This is an anthem for anyone who’s ever been hated on and has risen above it and come out from the other side like a fucking savage!!!” Demi adds that the song is about standing up to your haters and owning your personality. ″‘Sorry Not Sorry’ is a song to the haters that is basically saying, ‘You know what? I’m good now. And sorry I’m not sorry that you may not be loving where your life is at the moment,’ she admits. “A lot of people hear the song and they think it’s about an ex-boyfriend or something like that, but it’s actually just a song about the haters.”
On the song, Demi’s strong vocals are again put on full display and there’s an element of soulful sound to the record. “Now payback is a bad bitch and baby, I’m the baddest,” Demi sings. “You fuckin’ with a savage, can’t have this, can’t have this.”
The rest of the note sees the star thanking her fans for sticking by her when she announced that she was taking a break from music in October last year. “Thank you for allowing me to take the time I needed at the ended of last year to step away from all the craziness. I’ll admit, I was worried that people would get upset with me,” she wrote. “But what I was that instead of getting upset literally every single one of you wrapped your arms around me and showed me how unwavering your love and support is.”
