Demi Lovato has never been afraid to pour her heart out into music and expose her demons through song. The star is back with an emotional new piano-driven ballad where she reveals that she has relapsed after six years of sobriety. However, while the star’s angst and disappointment shines through the song, her willingness to get better and seek help is inspiring.
Mama I’m so sorry I’m not sober anymore. Daddy please forgive for the drinks spilled on the floor. To the ones who never left me we’ve been down this road before,” Demi sings. “It’s only when I’m lonely, sometimes I just want to cave in and I don’t want to fight. I’m sorry for the fans I lot who watched me fall again, I want to be a role model, but I’m only human.”
In March this year, Demi celebrated six years of sobriety but it was around April when things reportedly turned around for the star. Demi was accused of breaking her sobriety on social media when fan noticed that she seemed to photoshop a mysterious-looking drink from her hand in a picture on Instagram, but Demi clapped back denied these claims saying “I don’t have to defend anything, but it was red bull.”
We love how raw and honest Demi continues to be through her music. It’s inspiring to see someone face their demons so publicly and so unapologetically. It’s inspirational and we hope Demi recovers soon.
