Back in 2017, Cassper Nyovest famously took to Twitter to reveal to fans that he had officially sold more than 10 million records – a massive feat for the South African music industry. However, many believed that the rapper couldn’t back up his claim. DJ Maphorisa was one who called the rapper out on his claim calling him a liar and asking for proof. This began a feud between the two popular musicians. Now, however, Cassper reveals that the two superstars have sorted out their issues.
“Me and Maphorisa used to be arch-enemies. It took a few mature conversations and we let it go cause there was mutual respect,” Cassper says. “That peace gave us the songs Phoyisa, Good for That, Ocean View, Piki Piki, Amalobolo and now Bentley. Where there is respect, things work out.”
Meanwhile, DJ Maphorisa has made headlines for admitting that lockdown piracy has not affected him despite the Recording Industry of SA (Risa) revealing that ‘Tender Love’ by Sha Sha featuring DJ Maphorisa is one of the most pirated tracks in the country right now. “Piracy is out of fashion we don’t use CD’s and DVS’s anymore, we stream. I don’t know what you are talking about,” the producer said on social media.
