Singer and UK TikTok sensation Casey Lowry is back with brand-new music this week as he unveils his highly-anticipated new single ‘you caught me at my lowest’ – his new collaboration with Canadian pop group Walk Off The Earth.
The single came together after when Walk Off The Earth invited Casey to support them on their sold-out Wembley Arena show. When both acts found themselves in Canada at the same time, they headed into the studio and ‘you caught me at my lowest’ was born.
In celebration of the new single, we caught up with Casey who opened up about the track, working with the group and shares a message with his South African fans.
The way you tell a story through music is so fun and unique. How did your passion for songwriting begin?
When I was at school I wasn’t really very good at anything else so this was my make or break option. I think the storytelling came with me trying to tell jokes in school then I released they that people listen more when you sing them.
Tell us a little bit about your new single ‘caught me at my lowest’.
I wrote the song a while back about an amazing person that picked me up when I was at my lowest and I wanted to celebrate that. When I was promoting the song I did an openverse on TikTok and Instagram and a bad called walk off the earth duetted it and did a verse. When I asked if they would be ok the actual song they had just released a song 2 weeks before so their label and management were just 100% against it and said no way. So we decided to get a mad amount of Pre-saves so that their team had no choice but to say yes. And my fans are amazing and they got behind it 110% and made it happen! So now I have a song with a band I saw sell out Wembley arena!! It’s crazy!!
Why is it so important for you to be so open and honest through your music?
I’ve always been an open book. Maybe too much so. But I think the era of honesty is here. No one wants fake anymore being real is healthy.
What was it like working with Walk Off The Earth on this song?
They were so great, like I mentioned we didn’t give them much choice but to say yes after the pre-saves went crazy haha! But they were so supportive.
What attracted you to working with them?
They do fun quirky covers on TikTok and when they did my open verse I thought I have to have these on the actual track! Who wouldn’t want a cool arena band on their song!?
You’re so fun to watch on social media as well! What is your number one tip for content creators?
Be totally yourself! Honesty is so important and don’t push yourself to unhealthy limits.
How does it feel to see your music making an impact halfway around the world in places like South Africa?
It’s so amazing! I’ve not gotten over the fact I can play outside of the UK yet never mind in SA!!!
