You may remember local singer Carla Franco from Evida’s hit single ‘1,2,3’ and now, she’s back with brand-new single as she officially embarks on a new musical era. ‘When You’re Ready’ is the lead single off the star’s upcoming debut album ‘Chapter 1’ which is set to drop on 29 April 2022.
The song provides an insight into the new chapter of Carla’s music career whilst setting the tone that her new album will still hold dear her roots of acoustic, folk and rock music. The single features Carla’s signature acoustic guitar, suggesting that her core sound is still in the midst whilst morphing both into the music she has longed to create and the music she listens to.
Showcasing the shift in her sound and the versatility of her songwriting, ‘When You’re Ready’ was inspired by her partner and the notion of ‘I’m ready whenever you are’ when entering into a new relationship. ‘When You’re Ready; is the ultimate feel good, singalong song which will strike a chord with the listener when you least expect it.
“If you could imagine someone picked up a guitar one day and wrote a corny love song, this is it – but with a hip hop and funk twist,” Carla tells us. “For the fans that have followed my music journey thus far – this will be a new side to me that I hope they’ll enjoy. For the new fans and fans at large, they can look forward to the unexpected. Anything you think this album will be – every song will prove you otherwise and have an element of surprise.”
Hailing from Bloemfontein, and currently residing in Johannesburg, Carla’s love for music started at a young age with her first piano lesson at the age of 7. Carla was born with a hearing impairment, suffers from 20-30% hearing loss and has been wearing hearing aids for many years.
