Bonj has slowly been leaving her eclectic mark on the local music industry and the star is back with a new collection of work as she premieres her brand-new EP ‘A Journal’.
The project includes her latest hit ‘Like A Movie’ as well as her new single ‘Fly Away’. Continuing her exploration of blending genres and developing her own signature, the song serves as the perfect follow-up single.
With ‘Fly Away’, Bonj aims to highlight the tag of war for one that is involved in a relationship which despite the difficulties thereof. Being in love is the silver lining that keeps one feeling like love conquers all.
‘Fly Away’ is a fusion of electro, pop, and soul music elements, resulting in a unique, catchy sound led by Bonj’s husky and strong voice, that’s rich, seductive, and incredibly entrancing. The lyrics reflect on the strength of unity that’s brought to the fore and reinforced by the refrain that she “won’t let go.”
The song is paired with an animated music video that the lyrical content of the song to tell the story. Visual references include Uncle Viunny, Connie and Shona Ferguson, Riky Rick and a host of other recognizable animated personalities.
