Bernice West Brings Feel-Good Summer Vibes With New Anthem ‘See Toe’

South African pop darling Bernice West is lighting up the Afrikaans music scene once again, this time with her new single See Toe, a vibrant, tongue-in-cheek anthem that celebrates the chaos, excitement, and joy of a classic South African family holiday.

The track bursts onto the scene just in time for summer, a high-energy, feel-good soundtrack for road trips and family getaways. The single captures that universal South African rush of anticipation when the car is packed, the playlists are queued, and the open road leads straight to the coast. It’s sunny, rhythmic, and brimming with nostalgia, a celebration of togetherness that feels unmistakably Desember.

The accompanying music video turns the story into a full-blown mini-movie, following a family, played by Robbie Wessels, Nadia Beukes, Bernice West, Rico Immelman, and Eureke Beukes, as they scramble to make it to their traditional holiday spot once the school bell rings. Between a Wimpy breakfast stop, singalongs, and playful bickering, it’s a visual love letter to South Africa’s unique holiday culture.

Adding even more humour, a familiar rivalry heats up at the campsite between the family and their longtime neighbours, portrayed by Petri de Wet, Tanya de Wet and JD de Villiers, as they compete over who’s got the biggest bakkie, the best fishing rod, and the finest coffee. Whether they finally bury the hatchet in the sand… well, that remains to be seen.

“See Toe is more than just a song,” Bernice says. “It’s a feeling — that moment when you can’t wait to hit the road, when summer is calling and you just know something special is coming.”
