Local pop singer Ashlinn Gray has been very busy since relocating to Los Angeles in the United States and after a short hiatus to work on some new music, the star makes her highly-anticipated return this week as she premieres her emotional new ballad ‘Tshirt’.
The song is all about missing your other half and being in a long-distance relationship. Ashlinn and her boyfriend have been living thousands of kilometres apart for a few years now and the Covid-19 pandemic has made it even more difficult for them to see each other.
“I haven’t seen my boyfriend in over a year,” Ashlinn tells us. “‘Tshirt’ is a deeply personal heart song. It captures the heartbreak of feeling alone and in love at the same time.”
The couple were high school sweethearts and for the first four years of their eight year relationship, they spent nearly every day together. “It’s cringeworthy, I know, but it’s true,” Ashlinn laughs. “People ask me all the time how I do it,” she says. “I just see it as temporary heartache waiting for hopeful resolution. But don’t get me wrong, it sucks. It’s an emotional roller coaster. The song really wrote itself. T-Shirt is all about knowing that the distance won’t break you, juxtaposed by the longing and not knowing when you will see each other again… Love always finds a way.”
