He’s one of the freshest new faces on the local entertainment front and after two successful singles, R&B crooner ASH is back with the third single off his upcoming debut studio album. This time, however, the singer mixes it up as he blends his signature R&B sound with hip-hop – and the result is out of this world.
Much like Drake, ASH proves he can rap and sing in perfect harmony – something that’s not often found in the local music space. In fact, it’s this that makes the singer stand out from the other rappers and singers on the local front. ‘Been Waiting’ has a banging hip-hop beat that is filled with layers of different instruments and sounds. ASH has some pipes on him and he shows them off beautifully on this track. The song is comes from an honest place and is the perfect direction the singer should be taking with his music.
“My fans get to see a different side of me on this track,” ASH tells me. “I tell them my story. The song is a personal one for me and proof that I’m here to make good music. The song is inspired by friends I have lost, friends who believed in me and some of my boys who are serving time in prison. I want to inspire people. I am living proof that you can achieve your dreams even if they sound impossible.” The song releases on iTunes on the 12th of August.
