Armand Joubert Releases Gay Anthem Ahead Of Sophomore Album Release

Local pop singer Armand Joubert is living his truth and is one of the few out and proud acts in the South African music industry. After releasing his debut album ‘You’re Too Theatrical’ back in 2019, the singer has been hard at work creating his upcoming album ‘Flamboyant’ which, as the name suggests, is set to the an LGBTQ+ party record!

The project includes lead single ‘Free Me’ as well as previously-released instant grat track ‘Salt & Pepper’. ‘Free Me’ is an unapologetic banger. Armand’s vocals have always been strong and he continues to push himself with his range and delivery. The track shows off a new, carefree side to the singer who hopes to break the stigma LGBTQ+ artists have in the country.

“This one is for the gays,” Armand tells us adding that being a queer singer in the local music industry hasn’t been easy for him. “For so long I’ve been quiet about how unfair LGBTQ artists are being treated in SA and the amount of times I’ve been told I will not make it and my music will not sell because I’m gay, absolutely disgusts me! Enough is enough! It’s time to break the stigma! I’m an openly gay artist and I have the right to be myself just like everyone else in this industry! FREE ME!”

Listen to ‘Free Me’ here and stream ‘Flamboyant’ when it drops everywhere this Friday.
