Although it was released back late last year, Anitta’s global smash ‘Envolver’ has topped Spotify’s Viral 50 chart earlier this week thanks to a sexy TikTok challenge where fans imitate a famous Anitta dance move by dropping to the floor and shaking their booty to the song’s beat.
In fact, viral videos of the “Envolver” dance include performances by men, women, schoolchildren and the elderly, and even some underwater.
The song tells the story of two people who desire each other and have crazy chemistry. Sung in Spanish, ‘Envolver’ first took off in Spanish-speaking Latin America, rather than Anitta’s native Brazil, where Portuguese is the official language.
“Number 1 in the world. I really don’t know what to say,” the 28-year-old singer wrote on Twitter celebrating the success of the song. “The only Brazilian in the history of my country to have a top five song in the world. Oh my God.”
