Local pop star Ashlinn Gray has come a long way since she released her singles ‘Battleships’, ‘Nineteen’ and more. The star recently relocated to the United States and has been working with some incredible people and performed in some incredible places. Throughout that time, she has been crafting a new sound and she’s finally been ready to kick-start her new era as she debuts her comeback single ‘STFU’.
In a world that dictates how we are to behave, to dress, to talk and to live, Ashlinn says “to hell with that.” Not wanting to succumb to the pressure of the naysayers, the haters, the star is making her mark once and for all, taking a defiant stand and above all else, taking a risk.
Sonically, the sound is a darker mix of pop, rock and hip-hop – all of the genres the star is listening to at the moment. It’s been described as highly unpredictable, harsh and unforgiving and we love the fact that Ashlinn is pushing herself out of her comfort zone.
The song was inspired by the star’s journey to self-discovery and how difficult life is to navigate. “We are all trying to figure our shit out,” Ashlinn tells us. “I’m here to own it. Embrace it. Communicate it. Speak to it. We can all help each other figure life out but I’m not here to pay any mind to those who are going to rain on my good vibes with their negativity fountain.”
‘STFU’ is now available on all major digital music platforms.
