Lady Zamar opened up about her heartbreaking battle with mental illness earlier today in the hopes of breaking the taboo around speaking about and dealing with depression, anxiety and other mental illnesses that so many around the country and the world battle with. Last month, HHP took his own life after years of suffering with depression and Gigi Lamayne was checked into hospital after unconfirmed reports of her attempted suicide.
In her Twitter rant, the star opened up about her own battle with the disease and revealed that she tried to take her own life when she was just 16 years old. Luckily, she had a strong support system around her and therapy helped her come to terms with her depression.
However, the star knows that this isn’t a luxury many people around the country have as people are still expected to deal with their feelings internally and are often called dramatic when attempting to speak to close friends or family.
So, the singer took to her social media pages to share some of the learnings she took away from her battle with mental illness.
Depression and anxiety are real, they're both mental illnesses and left unchecked can lead to death…
My advice to anyone who think they have one of the two or both is go speak to someone, it helps to knows what's wrong with you, it helps to understand what you're going thru— 👑KingZamar (@Lady_Zamar) November 6, 2018
A few random tips from a person who has experienced this type of illness..
🔷Talk about your feelings, don't bottle things up, even if you feel like someone will laugh at you, it's better to express yourself and save yourself that say nothing for the benefits of fitting in

If you can't talk to your friends, family, wife, girlfriend, boyfriend, husband or you don't wanna go to a total stranger and talk, talk to God or a higher power or even to yourself.. JUST TALK ABOUT YOUR FEELINGS TO SOMEONE…
To those listening, Listen and never laugh about it

If someone comes to you for help or a conversation about their feelings, Listen to understand, don't judge, don't ridicule and as hard as it is.. DON'T GIVE ADVICE UNLESS THEY ASK FOR IT…
Listening seems so easy but it's one of the hardest to do for alot of ppl

🔷Avoid social media (completely or in parts) & people with negative energy.. Social media has in the past been linked to depression and anxiety for a host of reasons, the most common being the illusion of lifestyle, negative commentary, internet bullying and mass ridicule
— 👑KingZamar (@Lady_Zamar) November 6, 2018
🔷Rest and Sleep.. Sometimes sleeping enough and resting helps rebalance the chemicals in your brain that might help elevate your mood…
🔷Eat a healthy balanced diet.. Weight gain can have adverse effects on your body's natural chemical production

A great example in women (being female) is estrogen.. When those levels are too high they can cause weight gain and decrease your thyroidz functions.. This can be disastrous to your entire being

Exercises are also a great way of distracting yourself and trying to feel good.. When we exercise endorphins get released into the blood stream causing you to feel good.. So even it's its not for building, gaining or losing, those chemicals help elevate your mood…

🔷Spend time with good company, enjoy your life, engage activities that make you happy and make no excuses for what you enjoy doing…
🔷Pray and pray and pray.. If you have some faith, use it, reach out to forces outside yourself, hold on to the hope of better here on earth

Lastly and the most importantly
REMEMBER THAT YOU ARE NOT ALONE EVER, THERE IS SOMEONE WHO WILL UNDERSTAND YOU, SOMEONE ELSE GOING THRU WHAT YOU GOING THRU, SOMEONE WHO CARES DEEPLY ABOUT YOU AND SOMEONE WHO CAN HELP YOU AND SOMEONE WHO HAS SURVIVED WHAT YOU GOING THRU!!!
