Review: Little Mix – Glory Days

Little Mix has come a long way since winning The X Factor UK back in December 2011. Since the show, the group has released hits such as ‘Wings’, ‘DNA’, ‘Black Magic’ and ‘Hair’ and has become one of the biggest girl-groups in the world. Now, five years later, the group has released their fourth studio album ‘Glory Days’ which features the hit singles ‘Shout Out To My Ex’ and the new banger ‘Touch’.

The group has been incredibly successful since winning the reality competition but, honestly, it felt as if they struggled with forming an identity – until now. ‘Glory Days’ is the most comfortable the girls have been with their music. Their sound has matured but their essence still remains in each and every song and have delivered the perfect pop album.

A strength the girl-group has is their fantastic vocal ability. Coming from a live TV background, the band, who were then known as Rhythmix, had to deliver a flawless vocal performance each and every week. On ‘Glory Days’, Little Mix sound better than ever. From sassy jams like ‘You Gotta Not’ to pop bangers like ‘Touch’ and ballads like ‘Nobody Like You’, the girls deliver a flawless performance each and every time. The group know their voices and use their instruments strategically – something that has set them apart.

The production on the album is also incredibly impressive. Their sound on ‘Glory Days’ is more mature, edgy and risky than ever before – and it works. Each song is different from the one before which makes this an interesting and exciting record to listen to. Lyrically, the album has both make up and break up records and is bound to be a very theraputic record for young girls around the world.

Standout tracks include “Touch”, “Nobody Like You” and “Power” and, overall, Little Mix have delivered an incredibly strong album – probably the best of their career so far. This is pop music at it’s best and is definitely an album you should be adding to your collection this festive season.
