Calabash South Africa 2026 has now been officially cancelled, organisers Big Concerts confirmed on Tuesday, following days of uncertainty during which fans reported receiving ticket refunds without a formal announcement.
In a statement shared by the promoter, Big Concerts cited circumstances beyond the organisers’ control, explaining that Muse, the festival’s scheduled headliner, is no longer able to perform in the UAE, South Africa or India, and that a suitable replacement act could not be secured at short notice.
“We’re sad to share that Calabash South Africa 2026 has been cancelled,” the statement read. “Due to reasons beyond everyone’s control, Muse can no longer perform in the UAE, South Africa, and India, and we’ve been unable to secure a suitable replacement headliner at short notice.”
Muse also addressed fans directly in an official statement, apologising for the cancellation and confirming that refunds would be made available.
“Due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control, we will be unable to proceed with the upcoming scheduled shows,” the band said. “This has been a very difficult decision and one we did not take lightly. We’re truly sorry to everyone who purchased tickets and appreciate your understanding. Refunds will be available from the point of purchase. We hope to be back with you again very soon.”
According to Big Concerts, all ticket holders will automatically receive full refunds, including tickets for parking and park-and-ride services. Refunds have already begun processing and are expected to reflect within five to ten business days. Ticketmaster will contact customers directly if payment details are no longer valid.
The confirmation follows widespread speculation earlier this week after fans reported receiving refunds while no official communication had yet been issued. The silence sparked confusion across social media, with many questioning whether the event had been quietly cancelled.
