Queen Bey is back! It’s been six years since Beyoncé released her last studio album, and she’s finally back with new music. In fact, she has written and recorded so much music that she’s splitting the new era into three projects under the title ‘Renaissance’. Today, the first act premieres and sees her explore the dance genre in the most incredible way.
The experimental LP features lead single ‘Break My Soul’ which has already become a global phenomenon. Featuring guest appearances from Tems, Grace Jones, and Beam and clocking in at 62 minutes, Beyonce succeeds in her mission to get the world dancing.
The singer described her intentions in creating the album in an Instagram post. “It allowed me to feel free and adventurous in a time when little else was moving,” she wrote. “My intention was to create a safe place, a place without judgment. A place to be free of perfectionism and overthinking. A place to scream, release, feel freedom.”
Beyoncé continued by saying that the record became a “beautiful journey of exploration” and that she hopes her fans enjoy the new music as much as she does. “I hope it inspires you to release the wiggle. Ha!” she wrote. “And to feel as unique, strong, and sexy as you are.”
Prior the the album’s drop, Beyoncé responded to reports of the project leaking early. “So the album leaked, and you all actually waited until the proper release time so you all can enjoy it together,” she wrote on Instagram. “I’ve never seen anything like it. I can’t thank y’all enough for your love and protection.”
