Earlier this year, Masandi made his musical comeback with his catchy new single ‘Amagate‘ and now, the star has premiered the official music video for the track – featuring cameo appearances from Emtee, Sphamandla Dhludlhu and Mawat.
‘Amagate’ is the first look at a new musical approach for Masandi. The lyrics – loosely translated are about having the ‘gates opened’ (easing of lockdown restrictions) so everyone can go out and have a good time.
Directed by Monde Dube, the video is shot between three locations in Johannesburg – Constitution Hill, Sumo Nightclub and Alexander. The visuals depict Masandi being questioned by a parole officer and later released from a prison sentence and making his way back to a life of freedom.
“I hope this video just reminds everyone to not take freedom for granted, being able to have the access to have a great time this summer is a blessing,” Masandi says of the clip.
