Everything You Need To Know About South Africa’s Newest Streaming Platform BritBox

It feels like there are so many options available to South African streamers. While Netflix, Apple TV+, Amazon Prime and Showmax remain the biggest streaming platforms in the country, user demand is bringing more options to South Africans. Those who are obsessed with British shows and television will be thrilled to know that BBC and ITV have joined forces on BritBox – and it’s making it’s debut to South African consumers on 6 August.

After taking the United States, UK, Canada and Australia by storm and with over two million global subscriptions, BritBox will bring local consumers a wide range of top quality viewing, including the biggest collection of British box sets, to South African consumers as Mzansi becomes the fifth territory to welcome the popular new platform.

BritBox offers unlimited binging for just R100 per month. If you want to commit to a year, the platform will give you two months free at R1000 for the year. If you’re not convinced, BritBox offers a seven-day free trial after which users can choose to either sign up for a subscription or not.

Viewers will be able to binge new and exclusive titles such as Line of Duty season six, Professor T and Wedding of the Century, plus thousands of hours of classic content and family favourites.

Other brand new upcoming BritBox titles include Annika, Deadwater Fell, The Larkins, Up, Manhunt, Unforgotten, Endeavour, Vera, Grantchester, The Syndicate plus hundreds of top-drawer family favourites such as Blackadder, Absolutely Fabulous, Inspector Morse, Top Gear, Poldark, Fawlty Towers, Keeping Up Appearances and Midsomer Murders.

BritBox will be able to stream on the Web, mobile and tablet devices. Apple TV and certain Samsung and LG smart TVs from 6 August 2021.
