Earlier this month, both Apple Music and Spotify named Elaine as the most-streamed female R&B artist in the country and as she continues to promote her chart-topping debut EP ‘Elements’ and now, she has premiered the music video the next track off the record titled ‘Risky’. The video drops hours after the star announced that she has signed an exciting recording contract with American label Columbia Records.
‘Risky’ has been a fan-favourite off her history-making debut EP, ‘Elements’ so it was only a matter of time before the track served as a single off the project. The 7-song collection blends mellow yet sweet R&B melodies with hints of trap-inspired moodiness. With ‘Elements’, Elaine became the first independent female artist to ever reach #1 on the Apple Music Sub-Saharan African charts. The certified platinum EP features breakout track “Changes” which received airplay on The Joe Budden Podcast, and sleek banger “Say It” featured on Ebro In The Morning.
About her signing, Managing Director of Sony Music Entertainment Africa, Sean Watson, commented “Elaine is unquestionably deserving of the recognition she’s getting for her music. Naturally, Elaine, who is working on her debut album, is excited for the world to see what she has been working on and signing to a label like Columbia is expected to take her to higher places than she has been before. “I’ve got a completely different story to tell,” Elaine says of her upcoming material. “I’m a representation of every African girl that doesn’t want to be boxed in.”
