Introducing Showmax Pro: The Streaming Service Now Offers A Flood Of Entertainment And Sports Offerings

The new Showmax Pro offering, which bundles the existing Showmax entertainment offering with music channels, news, and live sport streaming from SuperSport, is going live from today in South Africa with prices starting at R225 per month.

The South African version of Showmax Pro features all UEFA Champions League, Premier League, Serie A, La Liga, and PSL games as well as a wide range of live sport events including athletics, professional boxing, and the world’s biggest marathons.

Showmax Pro will begin to roll out in South Africa from today and is expected to be available to all customers within the next 24-48 hours. This table gives details of the new Showmax Pro service in South Africa:

News channels which had become firm favourites as part of the Showmax lockdown offering are included in the Pro package, too, including SABC News (South Africa only); Euro News; Africa News and Newzroom Africa.

Showmax Pro will be available on mobile devices which run Android and Apple iOS and smart devices including compatible Smart TVs, Apple TV 4 and Android TV.

The additional content offered through Showmax Pro features all Premier League, Serie A, La Liga and PSL games, and other live sport events including the UEFA Champions and Europa Leagues (South Africa only), Premier Soccer League as well as athletics (Diamond League, World Challenge League and more), running: Berlin, Boston, London, NYC, Soweto Marathons and more), boxing (selected IBF, WBA, WBO, WBC and African Boxing events), and in South Africa only – swimming, extreme sports, eSports, basketball, triathlon, horse racing, EFC, netball and hockey. Showmax has confirmed that they won’t show cycling in South Africa at launch, although it will show the Tour De France and World Tour events in other territories.

Due to the nature of sport licensing MultiChoice is offering no free trial on its Showmax Pro or Showmax Pro Mobile plans.
