Bonang Breaks Her Own Record As Episode Two Of ‘A Very Bonang Year’ Tops 2 Million Viewers

Last week, Bonang Matheba broke SABC’s viewership records when part one of her two-part reality series became the most-watched celebrity-driven reality series of all time on their platform bringing in over 1.8 million viewers. Now, ratings for the second episode have been confirmed – and Bonang smashed her own record by bringing in over two millions viewers and extending her record.

This means ‘A Very Bonang Year’ was watched by almost 21% of the total South African audience – a massive feat for an entertainment series in the country.

In addition, the #AVeryBonangYear hashtag reached an astonishing 2, 2 billion impressions over the broadcast period.

Overall, we are happy with the performance of the show and it proves as a good business decision on our part. We are grateful for the viewers who tuned in and generated much talk-ability,” says SABC 1’s Sane Zondi.

The series explores Bonang’s game-changing trip to New York last year where she appeared on some high-profile media platforms, including ‘The Breakfast Club’, apartment hunting, a behind-the-scenes look at the creation process of ‘Public Figures’ – a film Bonang was involved with, apartment hunting, the Wild Aid gala and receiving her E! Entertainment award.
“I thought because 2019 was such a big year, I want everybody to be able to see what the hell I have actually been up to. I thought this is the perfect time to bring the story back home, to come home,” Bonang said when she confirmed the show earlier this year.

Brand Bonang continues to push its own limits and it’s undeniable that Bonang is a force this country has never seen before.
