Alexandra May has been responsible for some catchy pop bangers over the past few years but this lockdown, the star has recorded her popiest track to date remotely during South Africa’s nationwide lockdown and now, the star has premiered the track for the world to enjoy.
Alexandra co-wrote the track with Dennis Morgan in Nashville last year. The duo was inspired through their conversations they had in studio when they jotted notes of phrases and words that piqued their interest. They then built this song based on those notes and Alexandra’s life.
From morning until midnight, with diet drinks and a visit to Morgan’s favourite burger joint, Alexandra left the studio richer and with a new song. After writing the song last year, Alexandra then tapped producer Sloani to put the track together during the nationwide lockdown. During this process, everything was done remotely with both Sloani and Alexandra setting up home studios.
Lyrically, Alexandra tells listeners that there is more than meets the eye when it comes to her and Sloani brought this message to life in a catchy way with a pulsating guitar riff leading the track.
Alexandra continues to create pop music with a twist and it’s something that sets her apart in the local music space. ‘Typical Girl’ is available to download or stream on your favourite digital music platform now.
