Every year, YOU Magazine holds their presitgious YOU Spectacular awards. It’s a night of glitz, glamour and a night when all the stars come out to play. This year, it was held on the 16th of July at Emperor’s Palace – and it was definitely a showstopper. As expected, the night turned into the Bonang Spectacular as Bonang Matheba took home an incredible two awards, while her bae, AKA, took home two trophies.
The star of the show was undoubtedly host Anne Hirsch. This was her third year hosting the show and she did a stellar job. Her mix of funny, awkward and professional is perfect and I had a few great laughs. As always, there were some great musical acts. This year, however, the songs were all tributes to artists who have passed on over the past year. What was even more exciting was that all the performers were former reality TV contestants. These includes Mathew Gold, Graeme Watkins, Lloyd Cele, Andriette, Jason Hartman and Thembeka Mnguni.
