Local Afrikaans sensation, Refentse, has had an incredible few months since he first burst onto the scene. His debut album ‘My Hart Bly In n’ Taal’ became the biggest selling album of last year, reached double platinum status, earned him a South African Music Award and four Ghoema Awards. Now, after releasing his sophomore album ‘Deur My Venster’ just two and a half months ago, the star has another gold record on his hands after the album sold over 15,000 copies so far.
The album is another impressive collection of tracks from the star, who made a name for himself after a video of him performing on social media attracted his record label Select Musiek and Sony Music Africa. Since then, fans have been flocking to music stores and concerts to witness his incredible talent first-hand.
Achieving gold status proves that his music touches the souls of many around the country and Refentse is ecstatic that his music has been so well received. “I try to find the words to say how incredible it is to know that you can live your passion while singing in a language you love about things you think and feel resonate with thousands of people” Refentse admits. “I try to find the words to explain what these awards and album certifications mean to me, but I can’t. There is only love and thanks in my heart for my creator and the people He sent to support and bring me here.”
Refentse is one of the many familiar faces performing at the upcoming Krone 4 festival and promises to bring his music to as many fans as he can over the next few months. Reaching gold status again proves that Refentse has something special and promises to share his talent with the country for many more years to come. Congrats, Refentse!
