Comedy Central has announced the first three personalities who put rapper AKA under fire at his very own Comedy Central Roast happening later this month. Soccer legend Mark Fish, comedienne and talk show host Nina Hastie and rocker and The Voice South Africa coach Francois Van Coke will take on the notorious Rapster with an epic shoot-out in what promises to be one of the most exciting local roasts ever.
Mark Fish is one of the greatest soccer legends to ever come from South Africa. He was a major part of our win in the 1996 African Cup of Nations and went on to play for various European clubs. “I am excited to be on the panel of the Comedy Central Roast of AKA, this may be the only time I can roast this him since he is king of roasting people on Twitter,” Mark tells us. “[I] Can’t wait to meet all the panelists and make people laugh out loud, I think I am a funny guy but this shall be revealed on the day.”
Meanwhile, Nina Hastie is one local comedienne who refuses to filter her thoughts. Her quick wit and hilarious personality makes her the perfect addition to the Comedy Central Roast Of AKA. “I’d love to see his mom Lynne Forbes on the panel, I doubt there’s anyone who knows him better. I would roast him on skipping leg day the most. His whole leg is ankle. Maybe that’s why he got a shoe sponsorship… Because having a whole leg as an ankle makes a shoe look very special,” Nina says.
Finally, Francois Van Coke has had an incredible few months. From selling out his ‘Francois Van Coke En Vriende’ Pretoria show to announcing a new show in Cape Town, performing sold-out gigs on a weekly basis, opening his brand-new Fokof Bar, hosting his own TV show to being a coach on the third season of The Voice South Africa, Francois is at the top of his game. Now, he’s going to show us a different side of him on the roast panel. “”I am super amped to be part of AKA’s roast. I hope they fly me up to Jozi business class. I have only been on one business class flight in my life and it was because of AKA,” the star says.
Filming of the Comedy Central Roast of AKA in partnership with Showmax will take place on 21 February 2019 at The Teatro at Montecasino in Johannesburg and will flight on 11 March on Comedy Central before the uncut version premieres on Showmax the following day.
